How one company is transforming rehearsal to make choirs better

Choral Tracks are transforming rehearsals across the country and giving Choir Directors the freedom to mount more challenging concerts by providing over 35,000 professionally sung rehearsal tracks for choral singers of all levels.

Choral Tracks offers professionally sung rehearsal tracks for choral singers of all levels, promoting independent, accurate, and expressive singing. Now singers can learn their parts and show up to rehearsal so much more prepared.

We sat down with founder and CEO Matt Curtis to talk about the 35,000 coral pieces that are transforming rehearsals across the country and giving Choir Directors the freedom to mount more challenging concerts.

About Matt

Pretty much every teacher out there at some point has endured the horrible process of creating their own tracks for their choir. They love the approach but hate the process of recording their own tracks. Now they don’t have to.

ChoralTracks learning tracks are the equivalent of having a strong section singer that a less experienced singer can sit next to and lean in and really kind of learn all aspects of singing - including style and language.

My biggest mission has been to give choir directors and singers a really effective tool outside of rehearsal. Singers can learn their parts and show up to rehearsal so much more prepared - including aspects of artistry and literacy.

Because time is better spent in rehearsals, the Choir director has the opportunity to program music that's more challenging for their singers. So that's kind of another unique perk of using rehearsal tracks.

Choirs are going to get together in person until the end of time. What we've learned in the past couple of years with COVID and now with Zoom and other emerging low latency technologies, choirs will be able to make music together from wherever they happen to be. Maybe in the metaverse! Maybe someone will build a room that looks like Carnegie Hall and we can all meet and sing there.
